The previous foamcore booth, as pretty as it was, wasn't holding up well anymore. It took a drop some time during the winter, and it being in the cold, the tape had gone dry and brittle. So if it wasn't already bad enough the hinges were nearly broken off, the tape would no longer stick. The panels were getting warped out of shape, and as it stands, it's way too large for spraying small cars. I had thought a larger space would help with the paint vapour backing out of the confinement. Seems it's still not enough. A fan was a definitely must to draw the vapour away from me.
Here is the massive box I've been using.
Admittedly, it works for the 1:18 cars. I suppose I'll hang onto it until I'm done painting them all before disposing it.
And although this new one doesn't yet have a fan, I do bring about an even simpler construction that will hold up just as well as the last and still maintain the collapsible and drip tray feature.
The hinged triangular parts don't require a locking mechanism to hold it in place unlike the foam box, so assembling and disassembling is a breeze. Other than that, there isn't much to say about a spray booth other than the fact I've been using recycling junk I have lately, even if it doesn't hold much meaning or purpose. You'll see what I mean in the next post.
