[Customs] When Factory Paint Alone isn't Enough

The metalflake black turned out great in the stock photo, but while I already had plans to lay dirt on another car, this one tagged along for the ride.

The lighting looks weird. I'm using bluish LEDs instead of the warmer lamp I usually opt for in dioramas.

A white Castrol livery being released had me thrilled. But as I looked at it more, it was missing details. Shiny wheels didn't look look right. 5SP wheels were already a good choice without a doubt, but I figured I may as well step it up and get premium wheels in the mix. For the sandy look, I tried my best not to go overboard with the dirt application by leaving the top surfaces relatively dirt-free. I did however feather the clean surfaces with a light coat just to cover the paint's gloss as it doesn't seem to make much sense for a car to be dusty all over while having a squeaky clean roof.

For those curious of the diorama setup, it looks like this:

[Customs] Fast 4WD Blue - They Just Keep On Coming.

Changed it up this time. Went with PR5 rather than 10SP.

Since the techno livery didn't look anything close to a rally car,
I figured I may as well try not to make it look like one and instead
aim for the futuristic fantasy appeal of a Hot Wheels. Just with no TRAP5s.

The base and light are coloured in, and there's not much left to do
after that, as standard as a retailer buff mod will get.

[Customs] Fast 4WD Base Swapped!

As always the Fast 4WD production doesn't come around to adding a full set of tampos. One must wonder
why they even bother to include the details in the sculpt. Anyhow, keeping up the trend, here's the
3rd release with details done in, except this time, I do a bit more work:

I've got a spare (orange) I can take some parts off of. Conveniently enough the base matches the body's colour,
and 10 SP wheels make sense for a hatchback rally car, so it's all really a matter of swapping bases.

Tada. Effortless work, drastically more respectable than before, it's great they now have headlight tampos.
Still no sign of taillight tampos coming in.

[Customs] Quick Work pt.3

Left this partially-desirable Night burner behind before, but given I found absolutely nothing else during today's trip, I decided to grab it this time. The front design looks similar to Mitsubishi's Evo X Lancer. The lack of detailed headlights felt lacking when you can see how great it looks in the card's render. So I did something about that in no time.

The lights are now white and the grilles are black. A little goes a long way!

Like the last one, some detailing is all this car is missing. Here's the previous model:

This one here is my first commission. One of my best buddies who also is a big fan of my work asked for a slick ride one day. He had his eyes set on the Buick Riviera and so I followed through with his requirements; flat black, and chrome grills.

Decided it would be awesome to double it up as a birthday present. Although the day hasn't quite arrived yet, happy birthday, Mohammad! Thank you for your continual support!

[Customs] Distracted? Work Still Done.

After a recent reassessment of the collection, cars that had once been taken out have made its way back in. Those that have been planned for a quick wheelswap have also been completed. Finally.
