[Gaming] just falcon things - Super Smash Bros Wii U

Everyone goes through a Captain Falcon phase. He's the one character I make stylish plays faster than any other characters I use. The save replays of him were stacking up high for the GMHR series, and I didn't want those videos to be completely loaded with Falcon footage, so taking after the 10th video, I've decided to give the rest of the Falcon clips its own videos.

Enjoy.

[Gaming] Miracles & Acrobatics - Super Smash Bros Wii U

The GMHR series did not end. I wanted to rethink the series name to sound less technical and more catchier. I've basically changed out the words so that it is more open-ended to interpretation, while allowing room for more wilder plays that I honestly would not call a read, however hard it may be.

I tried for a sub-series where I only show footage of the funny- most spontaneously crazy moments that probably should not have ever worked out, but it doesn't help when my marketing skills aren't being put to use. It was a backlog of enjoyable moments that I didn't want on my hard drive any more, so I pushed it out into a short tidbit.

[Gaming] Gimps, Meteors & Hard Reads - Super Smash Bros Wii U

Seeing as how the Smash progress videos were intended to show progression of skill, it didn't exactly leave room for my better reads and odd moments encountered. I started this series by naming it after what sorts of footages are shown. It is all highly casual plays where do things I love most: scoring gimps and meteor smashes. I kept it to short 3-minute clips because of the fundamental lack in content variety, and just so that I could push out more short videos.

This is not the end of the series by any means. It was by the end of the 10th video that I wanted a title that was a bit more characteristic than simply the technical terms used in the game. In the interest of splitting up loading times for this page, I've pushed the rest of the series into another post here.

[Gaming] Zelda Progress - Super Smash Bros Wii U

It seems the blog has been neglecting the gaming side of things, and in the interest of making the blog reach further completion, I'm adding in bits and pieces I missed out on.

When I began playing Super Smash Bros Wii U, there were several characters I wanted to invest time into learning as a means of understanding how to play the game in general. It's not a creative name by any means, but that reflects on what this is meant to be for: progress logging. It's no montage by any means, the intent is not to show off, but rather to capture the impression of my skill level at the time of the recording, and to see how I've advanced between each timestamp.

Like Robin, Zelda was another defensive character I wanted to try out. Unlike Robin however, I didn't make much use of a projectile game as I did with a combo and offstage game. Amongst all the characters I put any time into, Zelda was the easiest one to perform any combos with, and her D-air is an easy gimping tool. Fun times were had when opponents were taken offstage, but it wasn't long until I learned just how difficult the ground game is when fighting similar characters to her. Like all the other characters I've blogged about, I use Zelda casually now and then when I face players that aren't used to fighting a Link.

[Gaming] Robin Progress - Super Smash Bros Wii U

When hitting a slump with Link, I felt it was perhaps a good idea to try out other defensive/zoning characters, just to prevent myself from being too close-minded with my overall game strategy. Robin has an interesting moveset I wanted to explore, but I see that I'm still jumping around a lot as a means to move. I feel that's still better done with Link, seeing as how I'm getting destroyed by players that also play defensively when I do this with Robin. I decided after a while to focus the game back on Link.

[Gaming] Link Progress - Super Smash Bros Wii U

Link is still my primary character to this date, even though I haven't been pushing out more new videos. I imagined I would still be playing quite actively after a year's time, but I knew things wouldn't stay this way when I got into Rocket League. Fun fact, I purchased Smash in May 2015, and have logged about 530 hours to this date (Oct 30 2016). I purchased Rocket League in June 2016 and have logged nearly the same amount of hours into that. That's twice the level of grinding I've done compared to Smash!

[Gaming] Mario Progress - Super Smash Bros Wii U

After Progress 002, I see I still don't have the satisfying control on being mobile without sliding around and executing dash attacks. I used to main Mario when Smash Brawl was around, but as I learned more of the game, I realize my playstyle is heavily biased towards a defensive approach. This was when I began trying out Link.

After Progress 002, there has been no future progress videos planned as of yet for I decided it was a good idea to try out another character.
